RR GUNS DESPERADO

Desi has been the most interesting of Guns n' Roses cria, of the 10 that we have had so far. He looks like he will have all the makings of a rare black point grey (roan), in the tradition of Snowmass Artic Blue, Greybeard and Neruda. Of course it is presumptuous of us to include a cria in that company, but if you see what his coverage, staple length, brightness, and tightly corkscrewed fiber looks like, it will certainly make you think that you might want to rent a movie to go with that popcorn.
At least his candidacy cannot be in question. Guns n' Roses crias are all blowing us away...if you don't believe us, check them out for yourself...we're happy, if not proud to show them.
Now the "interesting" part:
Most "experts" believe that the tuxedo grey genetics, as phenotypically manifest by Guns n' Roses, who is now unquestionably one the the very best grey sires in the country, is carried at a genetically dominant gene locus and ought to be transmitted to 50% of the offspring. It is also commonly believed that BPGs (black point greys), some of the most notable ones were previously mentioned, are a product of a different and separate recessive gene locus. That is why a breeding of a BPG to color has a low frequency of grey. It takes 2 BPGs or BPG heterozygous carriers to make a grey.
By virtue of this breeding, Guns n' Roses has demonstrated that he is an even rarer "switch hitter".
Not only is he a remarkable tuxedo grey with a solid blanket, minimal neck markings, belying an unmistakable tuxedo melanocyte migratory pattern BUT he is also a heterozygous BPG. It makes you wonder if his BPG genetics are responsible for the uniformity in not only his blanket, but also all his crias' expression as well.
We now have enough of them on the ground to back that statement up.
Have a look at his cria page on our website. Look at the percentage of grey. Look at the percentage that have no spots in their blanket (100% so far).
