Rosey is holding his micron!! See 2007 and 2008 histogram. His follicle density as tested by Jim Watt is indeed impressive. Ian Watt states that it is the best in grey seen to date (6/5/07). His follicle density is 55.9 with an S/P of 10.2 which puts him at the top 5% of ALL COLORED alpacas and the very top of greys, but the analysis goes far beyond those numbers. The difference in his mean micron (in skin) of his primaries (27.0) and secondaries (19.6) is a remarkable 7.4. Combined with a SD of 3.2 and CV of 16.6 in his secondary fibers (4.1 and 15.2 in primaries), this results in his incredibly soft hand. The color analysis is equally impressive with his primaries being 56% dark/44% white and secondaries being 26% dark, 74% white. The uniformity of color is most impressive when seen after shearing. There are no spots or blemishes in this blanket. We are hoping to breed for "solid" rose grey. You will not find more uniform stippling of rose grey composite color. This is indeed an "elite" fleece.

Isn't that what a breeding program is supposed to be about?
It certainly is where we want to take ours!
