Midnight Maestro
Maestro is exactly what we
were hoping for in this breeding outcome:
His mom is an outstanding true black out of Absolute. She is a 3 time
banner winner with impeccable conformation and a fleece that carries
winning attributes even as she develops into a mature matron.
Dad is our own Midnight Sun, a multiple champion fawn/ recessive
black . He acquited himself brilliantly over some of the best light
fawn genetics in the country at some of the most competitive shows, but
carries the recessive black allele that he has transmitted to Maestro.
A review of dad's serial histograms and Watt skin biopsy results offer
support for why we believe that Maestro should be expected, when he
likewise is biopsied at age 2 should bring to black, some of the fleece
characteristics one would expect to see only in light colored classes.
We didn't do a histogram on his tui fleece, but will have have data from
this spring's shearing and are more than happy to provide fleece
samples.
Genetics??? Fuggetaboudit!
